The Answer is a Person

image

Over the past months I have been reading and contemplating the New Testament like I never have before. I now understand that the answer is not about me or what I can do. I have previously been or had a mindset that it was about ministry,  about making a difference, and changing the world. It’s not about me or anything I can do. The answer is a man.  His name is Jesus. He was and is I AM. Prior to the creation of the world he knew me/you and he liked what he saw.

Growing up as a kid I had some pretty odd thoughts. I saw God as a creator and I saw us as guinea pigs.  Something he created for fun, but I now know that he created us to be sons and daughters.  We were created in his image. He spoke identity into me prior to the the world, prior to Genesis 1. Adam’s sin was not a mistake.  Adam was a part of a plan outside of time and space. Jesus was the ultimate prototype the template for us. We are his image. A mom and dad have kids not to have servants or someone to sing their praises.  They have kids to be their sons and daughters.  You know,  to have mini-me’s. I hope my kids are like me (well at least the good parts). I love looking at my kids and seeing their moms eyes or my smirk. I love my kids! No matter what the four of them do that is not important. I like them for them.

God is like that. He loves us, he likes us. I used to see religion as man running after God, but the truth is He is running after us, He is pursuing us and has been prior to creation.

Jesus was the redeeming character in the plan. He was and is the key. We were co crucified, co buried,  co resurrected,  co descended,  and co ascended with him. He died once for all mankind. He bore our sins atoning for all and broke the curse of sin. He did it to reconcile us to him. God wants his children to be his children. Jesus is the answer. This desire was poured out through extreme sacrifice and became the ultimate free gift. Salvation, hope, fullness, and grace are now yours for the taking. A FREE gift poured out that we can do nothing to attain/acquire on our own merit. All that God offers is free. My personal effort or any ministry I do mean nothing as far as receiving from my father.

He is the I AM, in me, calling to me. He is and will continue to pursue me/you.

The amazing news of announcing this life which is unveiled in Christ Jesus is what my ministry is all about! The promise is a person! I, Paul, am a man on a mission; God’s delightful desire sponsors me!

2 Timothy1:1 The Mirror Word Translation

Now, the sum total of his conversation with man has finally culminated in a son. He is the official heir of all things. He is, after all, the author of the ages. Jesus has been on the tip of the Father’s tongue all along! We have our beginning and our being in him. He is the force of the universe, sustaining everything that exists by his eternal utterance! Jesus is the radiant and flawless expression of the person of God. He makes the glory of God visible and exemplifies the character and every attribute of God in human form.

Hebrews 1:2-3 The Mirror Word Translation

The total answer is a person, Jesus Christ! Its part of Gods plan to make us dissatisfied with temporal things, so that we seek life in Him

What what?!?!

image

He is, the I AM, in me!

He came to reveal himself to mankind.  He came to reveal himself in each of us. He left heaven to show his self to us in each of us. He became flesh incarnate, he took on a body and was became just like us. He was not a super hero. He went through the same temptations we did. He was so average he had to be pointed out in a crowd for the pharasees. Nothing physically set him off.

The big difference was he knew his identity.  HE KNEW his relation to God.

We were created in the  likeness of God. Adam was a prototype,  Jesus was the ultimate prototype. We were made in the same mold. We are joint heirs with Christ. Jesus knew his origin.  Everything he did on earth was done in relationship to his identity with his father (God).

I am copy and pasting the verses below from a past post.

John 5:30
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

John 6:38
For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

John 8:28
So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.

John 12:49
For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. Now with that being said,  we are sons and daughters of God.  We are not adopted sons and daughters or black sheep im the family.  Before the creation of the world it says he knew us.

Jesus moved and flowed out of identity. He did all out of a paradigm of following in his father’s ways.

Heb 2:11
New Living Translation

So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.

We share the same origin, we have the same father. We are not adopted,  we are not the black sheep of the family. We are direct sons and daughters!  I have had to shed my bad notions my garbage thoughts on this. I have always heard and used the wording of adopted sons and daughters, but have found that the wording of adoption.

Ephesians 1:5

He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,

The use of the word adoption here is not the typical western use. It is actually more along the lines of the Jewish barmitzva or coming of age.

Galations 4:5-7
His mandate was to rescue the human race from the regime of the law of performance and announce the revelation of the sonship in God.

To seal our sonship God has commissioned the spirit of sonship resonate the Abba echo in our hearts; and now in our innermost being we recognize him as our true and very dear Father.

Can you see how foolish it would be for a son to immediately participate in all the wealth of God’s inheritance which is yours because of Christ.

We were co-crucified, co-buried, and co-resurrected with Christ (in him). Jesus moved as a son not a servant or beggar, but as a son! We being sons and daughters need to walk in that same revelation. Your true identity,  your original blueprint,  your you, is based on the relation of sonship. He left heaven to reveal this for you!

That is all for now. …….

Speaking beyond words

A man had been looking at the reflection of the moon on a lake,  it was reflected on the ripples,  he was trying to get a accurate view of the moon on the water but it was continually moving.

He was getting frustrated until he looked up and saw the moon, the original the source is the best place to look.

2 Corinthians 4:4

The survival and self-improvement programs of the religious systems of the world reveal the minds of the unbelievers; exploiting their ignorance about their true origins and their redeemed innocence.  The veil of unbelief obstructs a person’s view and keeps one from seeing what the light of the gospel so clearly reveals: the glory of God is the image and likeness of our Maker redeemed in human form; this is what the gospel of Christ is all about.

To find the truth look to the very source. God is not confused about you, we need not be confused about God. How does he see you? How do you see him?  Your beliefs about God determines your view. From age 6 to 6 months ago I had a view of God as judgemental and it kept me from seeing God rightly and in return seeing how he sees me. I love the Bible and have had a renewed hunger for digging into it. I have noticed in Paul’s writings in the NT he wrote the words “In Him.” Him/He is the source. Look to the source.  The word is like a manual. A lawn mower tells all bout the lawnmower but guess what? It won’t cut your grass. You need the mower. The Bible points and tells all about God but we need to look at and towards Him. We were made in his image. We are to be a son/daughter. His image his children! I was under the false idea that after the Adam fiasco we were cut off from sonship and it would be restored after our death.

John 3:16-17 states ” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

God did not come to condemn us!  He really really likes us! He is not bi-polar or unsure of himself. God

The value of land is redefined upon the discovery of gold, silver, or oil within its boundaries.  We are like that land upon finding Christ in us we are redefined,  metamorphosed into our our original identity.  Our blueprint has been re- genesised!  He has been there all along! The treasure has to be revealed.

It is finished,  God was done he entered into rest. ..

Entering into rest, grace is a gift it can not ba attained on our own efforts,  its in dieing to self and availing to his  rest…

He did it it is finished.

Matthew 13:44

Faith is not something we do to overcome the reluctance of God

A little leaven law keeps you busy as to miss Christ

Pray from the throne room not to the throne room

Hampster wheel mentality,  our works are that vain. On a wheel bound for sedentary

He does not impute my sins against me, there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ!  He died for my sins,  he forgave them once, he does not need to re-die or re-resurrect.

(Not gonna lie,  these were literally my unedited notes. They may seem a bit random towards the end…. plz deal with it)

Did the big guy know who he was? (A true Father’s Day gift)

image

I have been thinking about Jesus as the pattern son or the template we are supposed to emulate. It was around February 2013 that I feel God really started to work in me the concept of identity. One of my favorite quotes has become:

“What I think/say about God does not define me, what God thinks/says about me defines me”

This past week I started to notice Jesus and how he dealt with identity.  He moved  not on what people said about him or wanted of him. I have listed a few verses that show how Jesus moved. There is a common thread in the verses,  and that is in Jesus’s relationship with his Father.  His relationship is that of a son. He knows his identity. He moves in that relationship. He is secure in his identity and his relation as a son.

John 5:18-20

18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for what things soever he does, these also does the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that himself does: and he will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. …

John 1:1

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

He knew me before created the world.  He created all of mankind to be his sons and daughters. Many of us have garbage and or baggage to get rid of in regards to identity. The only source for our true blueprint has to be what God says about us. He declares us whole and pure before him. With Adams fall we automatically came with a sin nature. Andrew Farley asks the question “How many sins does it require for us to fall short? ” the answer is not one it is actually zero. This all due to Adam. Jesus died on the cross and we were co-crucified with him.  We were co-resurrected and forgiven one time for all sin.  This act redeemed our innocence.  It restored our original design.  A re-genesis for all mankind if they choose to walk in sonship. That sonship is our identity.  We have that same relationship a shared identity.  Our true identity is found in Him.

2 Timothy 1:1 and 1:9

The amazing news of announcing this life which is unveiled in Christ Jesus is what my ministry is all about!  The promise is a person!  I, Paul,  am a man on a mission;  God’s delightful desire sponsors me!

He rescued the integrity of our original design and revealed that we have always been his own from the beginning, even before time was. This has nothing to do with anything we did to qualify or disqualify ourselves. We are not talking religious good works or karma here.  Jesus unveils grace to be the eternal intent of God! Grace celebrates our pre-creation innocence and now declares our redeemed union with God in Christ Jesus.

Addendum:

This is in reality a true Father’s Day gift. To know your daddy and to know his heart towards you is priceless. You have a father and in him you are defined perfectly. To be able to walk in the understanding of sonship means more than anything. My identity needs to be founded in him and him alone.

Timmy, the Matrix, and Mulan…

image

I have been going through the Mirror Translation of the Bible by Francois du Toit and have been really appreciating Paul’s thought pattern.  I have overlooked Timothy and randomly opened th book to 2 Timothy this morning.

2 Timothy 1:1
The amazing news of announcing this life which is unveiled in Christ Jesus is what my ministry is all about! The promise is a person! I, Paul, am a man on a mission

I really liked how succinctly this was worded. The purpose behind Paul’s mision, his objective was to introduce the man Jesus Christ.  What Jesus did to bring back our original identity and redeemed innocence is vital to understand.  The moment I started to see it was a watershed moment in my life.  My view of Christianity totally changed. He came to restore man expose the laws expiration date. We were created to walk as sons and daughters and as heirs to God. We were not created to be servants but to be in a family type relationship.

Grace is a free gift that God has given to all! It is a matter of stepping into and accepting it. It has already been paid for and given. By accepting his gift he opens his store house.  Most people think primarily of salvation but he took not only our sins but all our issues whether it is sin, pain, suffering, sickness, whatever… As a child of my physical parents I was brought into this world to be their son,  not there servant. By birth into this family I am a part and take a stake in it. Eventually at my parents death will inherit whatever they have collected and accumulated in their lifetime.

I try to meet with a group of friends that talks about what we are studying or contemplating.  We met last night and we were looking at Ephesians 5. Someone started out with verse 17.

Ephesians 5:17
Make his master plan your meditation.

We talked about what this verse meant to each of us. The main theme we came to somewhat of an agreement was keyed into Christ’s sacrifice bringing about our co-death and resurrection giving us the free gift of grace and wholeness of being found in Him. He is the purpose of the gospel. His restoration of our ability to be found in Him is foundational. Before Christ in ones personal life we are walking blindly like zombies. We are alive but no life within. This ties back to the verse in 2nd Timothy that I started with. The promise is a person and His name is Jesus!

Ephesians 5:14
This is the message of light; Christ awakens you from your intoxicated slumber and resurrects you out of the death trap of enslaved thought patterns.

Jesus, the reality and revelation awakens the zombie man. As we were talking I started getting visions of The Matrix. In The Matrix humans were sedated and put into a communal dream world which they were made to believe was reality. Much like man before Christ (BC). The awakening to the reality of the full ramifications of what Christ’s life and death as a man on this earth will wake one up from this dream world that we have believed is reality. Take off your temporal earthly glasses and put on some eternal lenses. Wake up!

2 Timothy 1:9
He resurrected the integrity of our original design and revealed that we have always been his own from beginning, even before time was. This has nothing to do with anything we did to qualify to disqualify ourselves. We are not talking religious good works or karma here. Jesus unveils grace to be the eternal intent of God! Grace celebrates our pre-creation innocence and now declares our redeemed union with God in Christ Jesus.

It’s a free gift that we don’t have to do anything to attain. We do not have to work for it. Prior to Jesus paid the price with his life. He died to redeem our sin nature. Man after Adams fall was born with a sin nature. From Jesus’s baptism to death om the cross our sin nature was taken for us if we walk into accepting it.

My youngest daughter was watching the Disney movie Mulan. The ending has always been a favorite of mine. In the scene Mulan brings a crest and a sword to show/prove what she had accomplished. But in the end her father could care less about the accomplishments and cared more about her relationship as a daughter. Even though she had achieved greatness in mans eyes that is not I what moved her father.

Fa Zhou: Mulan…

Mulan: [kneels] Father. I brought you the sword of Shan-Yu,l and the crest of the Emperor. They’re gifts, to honor the Fa family.[Fa Zhou drops the sword and crest on the ground and embraces Mulan]

Fa Zhou: The greatest gift and honor… is having you for a daughter.

Did I mention God’s my dad and he likes me ….. a lot!

Daddy likes me!

Hebrews 3:1-7  TMT

Brothers, in context of our inclusion in Christ, we are blameless; we participate in his heavenly identity. We have become fully acquainted with Christ Jesus as ambassadors and Chief Priest of our confession. Our lives co-echo the logic of God’s eternal conversation in him.
Jesus is proof of God’s workmanship; he exhibits God persuasion concerning us. Jesus is what God believes about us. In Moses we have the prophetic model, demonstrated in his complete believe in God’s purpose displayed in the meticulous attention to detail regarding the construction of the tabernacle.

Yet his fame surpasses the glory of Moses, because the one who designs and constructs the house gets the greater glory.

Every house is an expression of someone’s design; God is the ultimate architect and Creator of all things. (He owns the blueprint.)

Moses took responsible charge of the administration of the Tabernacle as a servant of, and a witness to the prophetic voice.

But Christ is in charge of his own household nit as a servant but as a son. Understand this: we are part of this family; this is our real state not playing a role or doing a dress rehearsal.  We are no longer talking prophetically in figures and analogies.  We are bursting with confidence. What good reason we have for rejoicing!  Our expectation, inspired by its foundation in prophecy, has now come to full fruition.

In Psalm 95:7-11, the Holy Spirit said, “Discern the voice of the Shepherd. Grasp the urgency of what God is saying to you today! (Sonship is the Father’s language [Heb 1:1])

Moses was under the Law and was acting as a servant. We have been called as sons,  as heirs.  We are not reacting as servants,  we are heirs to walk in confidence that our dad has our backs.  He stands beside us and wants the best for us/me/you. He has already paid the price of admission.  My sin was taken on the sacrifical lamb Jesus.

I was listening to a MP3 by Bertie Brits on a seven hour drive back from Wisconsin on Sunday.  I listened to it 3+ times. (I often will listen to things multiple timess to get the message,  I might be thuck skulled). He was talking about how in the OT a sacrificial lamb would be brought before the priest. The animal was as innocent as can be, no sin no malice no nothing. The priest would lay his hands on the animal and spiritually transfer mans sin to the lamb. It then would be released into the wilderness taking the sin absolving man from its power.  When John baptized Jesus, John acted as the  high priest and placed his hands on Jesus. At that instance Jesus became that lamb. In the gospels Jesus comes to people and says things like “rise up your sins are forgiven” and people would be healed. He even said when questioned “what is it to say you are healed or your sins are forgiven? ”
—————————————-

Wow! As I typed that last sentence I had an epiphany!

Ask yourself,

Why is it you can believe in forgiveness from sin (salvation) and not healing?

Dude! According to Jesus there should be no difference! Oh Mylanta! OKAY! More on that later

—————————————-

I’m going to try and get back to my original thought but my bunny trailism is kicking in.

He walked the last three years of his life in a physical body here as that sacrifice culminating at the cross. His death brought about the full circle of redemption feom the cursw of the law. He brought us back to our original identity in Him. He adopted us as sons and daughters of God. We can now walk with boldness and confidence in him as heirs. Parents don’t want to raise servants but children who walk in relationship with them. They want to raise minnie me’s, someone to carry on in their footsteps. They want to be able to say “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. ” God wants the same for us/me/you. I foresee heaven as a place where I am in relationship with my heavenly daddy. I don’t see myself or anyone chained in place with a harp worshipping him all the time. I see an eternity of continuous relating with him.

Did I mention he’s my dad and he likes me ….. a lot!

Galations 2

image

I’m not going to say too much this morning.  At New Day Lloyd Rindels opened quoting Galations 2:18-20 out of  The Mirror Translation.

18 Only a con artist will try to be a law-man and a grace-man at the same time!

19 My co-crucifixion with Christ is valid! I am not making this up.  In his death I died to the old system of trying to please God with my own good behavior!  God made me alive together with Christ.  How can any human effort improve on this!

20 The terms, co-crucified and co-alive defines me now.  Christ in me and I in him! His sacrificial love is evidence of his persuasion of my righteousness!

If you have read any of my blog in the past this is probably the common thread,  your identity is in him! He defines you not your actions or abilities. If I could do anything to attain a place of position before God the act of the cross would have not been necessary.

The law has been superseded by the cross.  We were co-crucified and our original identity was restored. Freely given, freely recieve it. Step into his grace, his freedom, his faith… A hard reset was done to this world at the cross. That relationship that God had with Adam in the garden (pre-sin) has been restored. Your redeemed innocence is restored.

God don’t take your Nacho’s away

image

I was up early after being pounced on by a five year old (literally awakened by a 50# sack of inhibition saying “daddy get up”). I might not have appreciated it at the time but I know I will look back 15vyears from now and wish I could re-live it over and over. With that being said I arose and prepared the morning cereal and sat down for a morning snuggle. We turned on some cartoons and one of the characters had a quote “I have two words for you, Nach O’s.” Ok, so it wasn’t actually two words but it has been stuck in my head ever since. I have been in Romans again.

Romans 6:6-9 NLT

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him.

He died ONCE for sin. We died with him we arose and were set free from the earthly hold of sin. He did it! I have walked 99% of my life living under the paradigm of living under the weight of bwing a sinner and because of this the guilt, condemnation, and performance based Christianity I have lived under has been well… awful. In the past 6 months God has changed my perspective towards the sin nature. This brings me back to my Nacho’s.

Picture a party scene, the host has put out a platter of nachos, they are there for all. They were freely put out and were assumed to be there for all the attendees. To eat those nachos do you have to;

1. Pay for them?
2. Do a stupid human trick to gain access?
3. Bribe the guy watching the food table? 4. Beg?
5. Put on sack cloth and cover yourself with ashes?
6. Go mission impossible, drop from the ceiling via zip line snd stealthy grab them?
7. Dress in your Sunday best and look marvelous?
8. Have the high score on Pac Man or Halo?

The answer is none of the above. The nachos are yours freely, they came with the invitation.

Drop dead to your own efforts.  God is not sitting in a  revolving chair. He does not turn his back and pull the nacho tray if I/you sin. He already died for my/your sin past, present, and future.  He no longer sees it (past, present, and future). We don’t have to grovel and reach if we make a mistake. He is not sitting in a chair looking at us continually,  he is permanently set in us. Whether I fall on my face or am sprinting forward he is in me and likes it there regardless of me.

Confession of sin is not your telling God about your sin it’s teling sin about your God. Sin lost its authority to  run my life. It’s a done deal.

Romans 6:6 TMT

We perceive that our old lifestyle was co-crucified together with him; this concludes that the vehicle that accommodated sin is in us, was scrapped and rendered entirely useless. Our slavery to sin has come to an end.

Romans 6:9 TMT

It is plain to see that death lost its dominion over Christ in his resurrection; he need not ever die again to prove a further point.

How many sins have you commited? How many have you confessed? I’m looking for a number. Do the numbers match?

Guess what God died once and took care of your sin one time. He doesn’t have to die again and again. Your sin was taken care of past, present, and future all at the same time. He does not pull the nachos if you mess up. Grace covers you eternally.

Paul’s message throughout the NT was of extravagant love because he was extravagantly transformed, his identity was not of this world he saw the eternal here on earth. He was able to withstand life long persecution because he saw the other side here and now.

Blueprint Man

image

Romans 8:29 NIV

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

Romans 8:29 TMT

He pre-designed and engineered us from the start to be jointly fashioned in the same mold and image of his son according to the exact blueprint of his thought.  We see the original and intended pattern of our lives preserved in his Son. He is the firstborn from the same womb that reveals our genesis. He confirms that we are the inv we ntion of God.

Each of us were born new when Jesus resurrected.  His re-birth was our re-birth. This is man’s re-genesis, man’s redeemed innocence! I seem to be going back to 2 Corinthians 3:18 a lot but it’s a common and rudimentary concept that Pauls message throughout the Gospel expounds.

It states “The days of window-shopping are over!  In him every face is unveiled.  In gazing with wonder at the blueprint likeness of God displayed in human form we suddenly realize that we are looking at ourselves!  Every feature of his image is mirrored in us! This is the most radical transformation engineered by the Spirit of the Lord; we are lead from an inferior mind-set to the revealed endorsement of our authentic identity. Mankind is his glory! ” The word gazing is katoptrizomenoi, it is the present tense meaning to gaze into a reflection, to mirror one self. Transformation is metamorphumeta is present passive indicative from metamorpho; meta, together with meros,  form. Image is eikon, it translates exact resemblance,  image and likeness; eikon also assumes a prototype,  that which it not merely resembles,  but from which it is drawn (think sourse).

For such a time as this! God knew you before the land and seas were formed.  He knew you!  He knows you!  He desires to walk with you as he walked with Adam (pre his oops).

Jeremiah 1:5 NIV

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

We were cast in his image,  we were redeemed at his resurrection whether we chose to walk in his grace and hope. What is his blueprint for each of us? My identity who I am is not my vocation or what I achieve or don’t achieve.  It is not a label put on me by parents, peers, doctor, government,  physique, etc. We are bot ugly ducks who will one day transform into that swan. I/we look into that mirror today and we see God’s image and at the same time God looks back and sees us and guess what it is the same image. He sees us transformed metamorphosed NOW. He is not looking at some future us.  He sees with his perfect present vision. His son died and and rose again taking back the right the car keys if you will. Satan is a thief, he never had ownership of us or the earth.  He usurped authority.  Jesus took the authority back. Our original identity was restored at the cross!

We were pre-destined to be his image, the image of his Son! We are that eikon, that exact image/likeness, that prototype.

I choose to walk in his identity, I refuse to be a label put on me by someone or something other than God.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Sonship Dude!

image

I was reading in Romans 8:19-24 still contemplating sonship (following yesterday’s blog) it states;

Our lives now represent the one event every creature anticipates withheld breath, standing on tip-toe as it were the unveiling of the sons of God. Can you hear the drum roll?

Every creature suffered abuse through Adam’s fall; they were discarded like a squeezed out orange. Creation did not volunteer to fall prey to the effect of the fall. Yet within this stark setting hope prevails.

All creation knows the glorious liberty of the SONS of God sets the stage for their own release from decay.

We sense the universal agony and pain recorded in history until this very moment.

We ourselves feel the grief echo of their groaning within us while we are ready too EMBRACE the ORIGINAL BLUEPRINT also of our physical stature to the full consequence of SONSHIP.  What we ALREADY NOW PARTICIPATE in as first fruits of the spirit will bloom into a full gathering of the harvest.

For what we already experience of salvation confirms our hope and continues to fuel our expectation for what we still cannot see. In the final visible completeness of the harvest,  hope has fulfilled its function.

Through the cross we co-died and became co-heirs with Christ.  This act brought mankind into sonship. Sonship! Do you get the ramifications?  We have a new lease, Adam’s fall has been wiped clean.

You hear stories of prisoners who have been behind bars for decades and have been released and still act like prisoners.

James Whitmore in The Shawshank Redemption

Jame Whitmore’s character in the Shawshank Redemption had been in prison since his late teens and was released an old man. He was free but he didn’t know how to cope with his freedom. He still acted like he was in chains asking permission to use the bathroom among others. He didn’t understand traffic or how to cross the street. He knew about street and cars. He had knowledge of what they were but it was merely cognition not understanding of the practical. We are like that, I’ve often used the terminology “we are sons and daughters of God” but I never walked in it or even remotely understood what it means.

I am a joint heir with Christ! What he gets, I get. He has access to daddy, I have access to daddy.

I’m a parent of four kids; Savannah, Shakanah, Benaiah, and Moriah in that order. I cannot honestly say I have a favorite. In fact I have told them when we are alone (one on one) that they (which ever one is with me) that they are my favorite. Each one can come and ask me a question at any time and I will see what can be done to answer there question or make a request possible. No good father/mother will give their child a spider if they ask for a _______________. I am God’s son his child. I am not a servant or a guest. I am his favorite.

Jesus’s act of sacrifice on the cross redeemed our innocence, it brought us back to that pre-fall relationship that Adam and God had in Eden.

God has invited each of us to walk in that sonship. A good parent loves unconditionally and God is definitely a good parent. Remember the prodigal sons brother who at the end of the story is jealous of his brother and when confronted by his father about his issues the father says;

Luke 15:31-32

“My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”

Your original identity is that of a fully functional son/daughter of God!

Give the word your undivided attention; do not underestimate yourself.  Make the calculation. There can only be one conclusion: your authentic origin is mirrored in the word. You are God’s poem; let his voice make poetry of your life.
