Random thoughts (sin)

Sin:

Believing any deception that is less then what God says or believes of you could satisfy more then what He has already provided for you….

Was the first sin the apple or was it the lie that they were anything less then perfect already and that God was holding out on them.

“If you DO this you can become this…”

Adam thought by DOING he could BECOME …

Someone said earlier today that “it is anything that displeases God” I have issues with that idea. I argue or believe He doesn’t see the things that we do or have done that would displease mortal man. He already died and forgave all sin. As far as the east is from the west “who is man that God is mindful of him?” His thoughts are full of you,  as the sands of the sea, He knows the hairs of your head! Romans 6:10-11 He died once for all sin.

1 John 4:17 GOD’S WORD® Translation
God’s love has reached its goal in us. So we look ahead with confidence to the day of judgment. While we are in this world, we are exactly like him.

Martyn Lloyd Jones has a paraphrase of the above verse:

“What’s true of Him is true of you.”

Francois Du Toit  says it like this “He (Jesus) is not an example for you but of you.” He came up behind me  put his arms around me and spoke this to me. It was impactful to say the least.

John Crowder speaks about freedom from the sin nature. Three years ago i would have thought this was heretical but after experiencing what could be called a revelation of my identity as being defined by what God days about me rather than finding it in anything less i see how that can be.

I used to concentrate on overcoming my sin nature, i would strive and contrive to push past the garbage to succeed but to only fall short every time.  To become centered on Him at what he says about me is freeing. Knowing i am a new creation and sin is not debited against me and grace credited to cover all my failures. It draws one in to want more.

“Separation is an Illusion”

Hesitant to post this but I’m gonna. We have a tendency to put heaven and God out there in space or in the future.  We do the same wuth our identity too. We have been so conditioned to see ourselves a s a work in progress. We live in the physical world and strive to peak into the spiritual realm.

Sing these songs in your head. “Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary….” or “Purify my heart,  let me be as gold…..” or ” Take me into the holybof holies…..” do you see the pattern. We have set God and his goodness as a target in the future. We have looked at our salvation and sanctification in the same manner. In order to get a true picture of who we are and what our destiny is we must go back to Genesis.  In the 26th and 27th verse in chapter 1, it says:

26Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.…

God created us (all of us) in His being prior to the making of dirt. He knew us before Adam walked the physical earth. I believe God is outside of time and space. With this in mind there is no distance or delay in what God has orchestrated. Before time He already saw Adam, Jesus, and the end. We were co-crucified,  co-buried, co-ressurected, and set into co-heirs (sonship) before dirt.  He has forgiven us and the only view he has of us is forgiven and his sons and daughters.

We were his creation his children from before time. Through the finished work of the cross we are full heirs. Mankind has been walking in a delusion or a fog if you will. Once that fog is lifted we can see our original identity. Our blueprint is His identity. We are made in His likeness and image. Through realignment of our mindset or un veiling we can walk with the knowledge of who we originally were (His sons and daughters).

Ephesians 1:4

He associated us in Christ before the fall of the world! Jesus is God’s mind made up about mankind! He always knew in his love that he would present us again face-to-face before him in blameless innocence. (The implications of the fall are completely cancelled out. Paul uses the word, katabalo, meaning “to fall away, to put in a lower place,” instead of themelios, meaning “foundation” [see 2:20]; thus, translated “the fall of the world,” instead of “the foundation of the world,” as in most other translations. God found us in Christ before he lost us in Adam! We are presented in blameless innocence before him! The word, katenopion, suggests the closest possible proximity, face-to-face!)

He is not an example for is but of us. Throughout the New Testament Paul speaks of being found in Him. 2 Corinthians 3 tells of the veil and how by looking into a mirror we see our true and present identity.  In the mirror we see Christ in us. The separation of the physical and spiritual is a deception.  He is closer than a brother, closer than the air we breathe.

Kainos! Aka SuPeR-NeW

image

Kainos is new but not just new its super-new. If yoi have an old pair of Nikes that get a Kainos upgrade they have not just been replaced but the new shoes now let you levitate, travel at light speed, supply enough power to light up the whole earth,  and supply sustenance for all of mankind.

Andrew Farley, in his book The Naked Gospel, talks about how when Jesus came in and stepped into that roll of priesthood he did not follow the lineage that one would expect.  The priesthood had to be transformed. A new beginning, a level (but kainos) playing field.  Jesus came out a tribe that should not have been considered for priesthood. There had to be a breaking a transformation for the new. The Levitical system was based on the law. The law was a curse to man. Jesus came as kainos Adam, the final Adam.

Hebrews 6:18-20

18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil;
20 Where the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 7:3 says that Melchizedek  is without father or mothervor genealogy. Our origin was prior to Genesis 1. We were created not on our physical conception. We were defined in the mind of God before the earths creation. Mans origin is not reflected in Adam but in the mind of God.

Jesus came to earth and took that priestly Melchizedek mantle (kainos). He came as a man (incarnation). We were co-crucified, co-buried, co-resurrected,  and co-ascended with him. We are complete in him. His death wiped out the Adamic/Levitical system of the law. That system was dependent on works.  The devil wants you to believe that that system is still in effect.

Guess what,

KAINOS!

It is all new, his act at calvary on the cross reconciled mankind to its pre Genesis identity. We are now closer to God then Adam. Adam walked with God, God is now found in man! Guys! This is better than Adam had it! KAINOS! This bring a whole new meaning to 2nd Corinthians 5:17:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

My identity is found IN CHRIST. I can’t define God but he defines me, he is not an example for me but of me! Don’t be that guy who sees his face in the mirror and walks away and forgets what he saw.

What’s true of Him is true of you.

“The only difference between Christ and us was his understanding of who he was.”

This Weekends Highlights

So I have been at a conference this weekend with John Crowder. He has been very controversial in Christian circles. With topics like BBQ’ing Your Sacred Cows and Demons Under Every Rock…. yeah kind of expected it.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, maybe a cross between Toronto and I don’t even know. I was very happy to say the least. If you know anything about Christianity you will realize that the majority of Christians have their pet theologies. Many are sound and many are sketchy.  Also, its a given that 99% need a corn cob-ectemy (let the reader understand). If you  have been following my blog, you’ll know I’ve been on a journey and I have been letting God de-construct my foundations so that he can re-construct it right this time

I believe John is very in tune with what God is birthing, working, etc (use whatever terminology you want. ) In my opinion he is sound,  he backs up everything with a plethora of biblical verses. Also he’s not afraid to say “I just don’t know. ”
