Darkness of ignorance, Where are you getting your identity?
I read this, this morning. Francois Du Toit had posted it on Facebook. Where are you getting your identity? Is it an accurate identity or a skewed one? If it is not founded on God’s definition of you it probably is skewed.
People are not born Christians, yet every person ever born comes from God! God says in Jer 1:5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb!”
We are God’s idea: we began in God! We are born into a world where we are bombarded with many diverse cultural and traditional mindsets, most of which directly stems from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil system, which is the fallen mindset system which says you are not…you have to strive to become! People who do gross things do it from believing a lie about themselves and not knowing the truth of their incredible design as image bearers of God! James says in Js 3:9, We can say beautiful things about God the Father but with the same mouth curse a man made in his mirror likeness. The point is not what the man did to deserve the curse! A doctor doesn’t slap his patient and command him to stop coughing! You may have the flu but you never become the flu!
True worship is to touch someone’s life with the same devotion and care you would touch Jesus himself; even if the other person seems a most unlikely candidate.
Multitudes of people are living in the darkness of ignorance, not knowing the truth of the integrity of their design and their redeemed value and innocence! The adventure of the Christian life is to declare what we have discovered to be true about every single person! Jesus says that when we discover that the son of man is indeed the son of God then the gates of hades (not to see) will crumble and the prisoners of darkness will be free to discover themselves in him!
Truth does not invite dispute, doctrine does!Truth awakens resonance!
Let God Find You
— A Quote by Henri Nouwen in “The Return of the Prodigal Son”
“For most of my life I have struggled to find God, to know God, to love God. I have tried hard to follow the guidelines of the spiritual life — pray always, work for others, read the Scriptures — and to avoid the many temptations to dissipate myself. I have failed many times but always tried again, even when I was close to despair.”
“Now I wonder whether I have sufficiently realized that during all this time God has been trying to find me, to know me, and to love me. The question is not ‘How am I to find God?’ but ‘How am I to let myself be found by him?’ …The question is not ‘How am I to love God?’ but ‘How am I to let myself be loved by God?’”
– Henri J. M. Nouwen, “The Return of the Prodigal Son”, p. 106
Two questions.
‘How am I to let myself be found by him?’
‘How am I to let myself be loved by God?’
The only action required is to accept the free gift and enter into His rest. I have read that Henri says pray always taken back to its original Hebrew should translatef enter into rest. So if this is true no work is required on our part. That is the same with salvation, righteousness, grace, etc. ALL FREE GIFTS! NO ACTION NEEDED ON OUR PART.
Let God find you. He already provided ALL.
The finished work of the cross.

This is an excellent teaching on what the gospel and grace are all about. I suggest watching it and sharing it.
No coffee beans were hurt during the writing of this blog
I was out running errands the other day. I had just bought a vehicle for one of my girls and was trying to get insurance on it. My insurance agents office is in a kind of strip mall. His office had a sign on it saying be back at 9:00. It was now 9:19.
I figured he had to be close by so I thought I would try the coffee shop a couple doors down. I walked in and it was your typical coffee shop scene. I walked towards the back zigging and zagging between mac books, hipsters, and conversations.
To my surprise I saw a friend who had moved to Vermont around 2006. It was a nice suprise and a short 3 minute reunion. We made plans to get together before he would hop a plane to return to Vermont. So far no coffee.
This morning we met at a different coffee shop. He had a pretty tight schedule. We had an hour before he had to be off. It was almost as I if no time had passed. We seemed to connect like the 5-6 years had never passed. We gave the usual updates on family, life, work. Still no coffee, I had a chai latte and he had some sort of tea. Two coffee shops and no coffee.
He told me of the sell of the family business and the transition to a ministry. He is involved in a house of prayer that is community based and supported by a not for profit restaurant. He said that one of the big differences from other houses of prayers is that they are mainly supported by the restaurant. Also, only a third of teir employees are a part of the actual ministry. Two thirds are hired off the street. They are concentrating on being community based. Of the four to five hundred they serve less the 5% are staff customers. They have a huge draw from their community. They not only reach out to their employees but their community in a very organic way. It’s not a church or house of prayer at its center, it’s an outreach of hope and love.
I have been thinking alot about the church and the church system and we need a new model. I don’t I now if model is even the right term. I love what they are doing. They are impacting their surroundings in a very Isaiah 58 way.
Have you ever heard of the term the church without wall’s? A friend and spiritual dad has had some insight into the church without walls. I believe that there may be a change in what we call and the way we look at church in the very near future.
This post has actually totally bunny trailed. My original thoughts were to lead to what is below.
I don’t mind a bunny trail now and again…
In my most recent history I have picked up some thoughts and tossed lots of thoughts overboard because they were dead weight. I think back and for 30+ years my theology had stayed very much the exact same (very little change or growth for that matter).
I was what I thought very spiritually
progressive. I look back and I was really dogmatic. In the past 12 months thrown out 90%+ of my dogmatic progressive garbage. If your theology is the exact same as it was 30, 15, or 3 years ago you are probably doing it wrong. I held my theology in a tight fist. The problem with that is that your fist before too long will be used for hitting someone with it. I have learned to hold my beliefs open palmed in a loose fashion allowing God to add or subtract.
End result, I have gone from a stoic jerk with a doctrinal thesis stuffed somewhere to a guy who now generally smiles and is happy and relates to people as people instead of some spiritual conquest. And guess what? I talk to more people about life and God then i ever had before. And those who I talk to are much more receptive. I am not out to ram my belief system down people’s throats but to love them reveal Jesus in them.
That is all for now, and still no coffee
UNION BEFORE DIRT – Francios Du Toit
To make all men see! That is the Gospel, the good news. The message is for all and that message is what he believes about you. What he believes about you is what matters. He set your identity before there was dirt. That view is and will always be of you forgiven and righteous. Standing as his son and or daughter, a joint heir with my big bro Jesus!
Cheap grace, what?
I was involved with a wonderful Facebook conversation yesterday. The topic was “cheap grace.”
True grace compells one to enter in further. Pauls coversion is the perfect example. He was so enamored by the free gift of grace that he became the perfect poster child for it. Those who say it is a license to sin didnt quite get the message right. After 30+ years of Christianity the veil was torn away and I feel I had that Emaus Road moment. The word has come alive to me to such a way that I want it more than anything else. Also, the areas where I had issues with as far as crucifying the flesh and fighting against have become non issues. I am now no longer concentrating on fighting and attaining in my own works. When I took the emphasis off my works and resting in the finished works of the cross I am walking in freedom both spiritual and fleshly. I am now driven to run to his rest.
I was thinking on the term false grace and It popped into my memory. Counterfeit bills! The US trains its auditors and investigators by having them spend countless hours with real currency (not fake). They become so accustomed to the REAL DEAL that if the fake comes along they know it only because they know the real…
Romans 6
1. It is not possible to interpret grace as a cheap excuse to continue in sin. It sounds to some that we are saying, “Let’s carry on sinning then so that grace may abound.” (In the previous chapter Paul expounds the heart of the gospel by giving us a glimpse of the far-reaching faith of God; even at the risk of being misunderstood by the legalistic mind he does not compromise the message.)
2. How ridiculous is that! How can we be dead and alive to sin at the same time?
3. What are we saying then in baptism, if we are not declaring that we understand our union with Christ in his death?
4. Baptism pictures how we were co-buried together with Christ in his death; then it powerfully illustrates how in God’s mind we were co-raised with Christ into a new lifestyle. (Hos 6:2)
5. We were like seeds planted together in the same soil, to be co-quickened to life. If we were included in his death we are equally included in his resurrection. (2 Cor 5:14 – 17)
6. We perceive that our old lifestyle was co-crucified together with him; this concludes that the vehicle that accommodated sin in us, was scrapped and rendered entirely useless. Our slavery to sin has come to an end.
7. If nothing else stops you from doing something wrong, death certainly does.
8. Faith sees us joined in his death and alive with him in his resurrection.

Faith comes by hearing (remix)
It’s the Good News! Faith comes from the report. The cross of Christ was a success. He was the message, the revelation of the equality of sonship. Jesus is God’s language. The message supplies faith.
Verse 17 is the traditional “Faith comes by hearing and ……”
[Romans 10:16 – 17]
16 It is hard to imagine that there can yet be a people who struggle to hear and understand the good news. Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”
17 It is clear then that faith’s source is found in the content of the message heard; the message is Christ.
(We are God’s audience; Jesus is God’s language! The Greek, ek, is a preposition that denotes source or origin; thus, faith comes out of the word that reveals Christ. The word “Christ” appears in the best manuscripts. Herein lies the secret of the power of the gospel; there is no good news in it until the righteousness of God is revealed! [See Rom 1:17] The good news is the fact that the cross of Christ was a success. God rescued the life of our design; he redeemed our innocence. Man would never again be judged righteous or unrighteous by his own ability to obey moral laws! It is not about what man must or must not do but about what Jesus has done! God now persuades everyone to believe what he knows to be true about them. [It is from faith to faith.] The prophets wrote in advance about the fact that God believes that righteousness unveils the life that he always had in mind for us. “Righteousness by his (God’s) faith defines life.” [Hab 2:4].)

Do you believe what I believe about you?
Do you believe what I believe about you?
My definition of me does not define me accurately, only God’s definition does an is the only one that matters.
God defines man, not man. He has only one view of all mankind and that is the one he originally designed in us. We were each made pre-creation in His image. He is our blueprint! We were made in His image! He is our template. He is our father and unconditionally he likes us a lot. He sees everyone the same. There is no favorites, he loves us ALL.
Song by Godfrey Birtill
Don’t over complicate it
Romans 11:32-33
32 In God’s calculation the mass of humanity is trapped in unbelief. This qualifies all mankind for his mercy.
33 I am overwhelmed by the limitless extent of the wealth of God’s wisdom and the perfection of his knowledge. How we have failed to explore or fathom the conclusion of his resolve! In our clumsy efforts to find him, we have completely lost track of God.
Mirror Word Bible
Our meat sacks called flesh, house the most amazing thing ever. Christ in us! He is not out there in the great expanse of space, he came down to earth to be forever with man. You are his permanent address.
1 Corinthians 6:20
20 You are bought and paid for, spirit, soul, and body! All of you are his! Live your life conscious of the enormous price with which God has valued you! Your whole being belongs to him and exhibits him! You are his address; you are his real estate
He is already in us from the beginning of time waiting for us to recognize that. He is mans true original identity. Mans blueprint is based on God’s image.
1 John 2:8
At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
ESV
Grace, righteousness, forgiveness, holiness, purity, newness, are all free gifts provided at the cross. There is nothing you have to do to gain access to any of this. No works you can do will ever get you anymore favor, anymore faith, anymore blessing then you were already given. Christ gave all to everyone at the same level.
Colosians 1:17-21
17 He is the initiator of all things therefore everything finds its relevance and its true pattern only in him.
18 The ekklesia (church) is the visible expression (body) of which Jesus is the head. He is the principle rank of authority who leads the triumphant procession of our new birth out of the region of the dead. His pre-eminent rank is beyond threat. (“ … leading the resurrection parade” —The Message)
19 The full measure of everything God has in mind for man indwells him. (“So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding.” — The Message)
20 He initiated the reconciliation of all things to himself. Through the blood of the cross God restored the original harmony. His reign of peace now extends to every visible thing upon the earth as well as those invisible things which are in the heavenly realm. (The heavens, ouranos, a place of elevation, from oros, a mountain, from airo, to lift, to raise, to elevate, “Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe, people and things, animals and atoms, get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death.” — The Message. )
21 Your indifferent mind-set alienated you from God into a lifestyle of annoyances, hardships, and labors. Yet he has now fully reconciled and restored you to your original design. (The word, poneros, means annoyances, hardships, and labors, often translated as evil. [See Septuagint: tree of knowledge of good and hard labor!] To reconcile: apokatallasso, fully restored to the original value. [In Thayer Definition: to change, exchange, as coins for others of equivalent value.])
